I took this photo during my freshman year in college. I returned to Boston for homecoming weekend and Dizzy Gillespie was putting on a concert.

I remember shooting this with a 180 mm Nikkor lens and using a 2x teleconverter to get up close. While many of the photos I took show his trademark huge bullfrog cheeks, I like this pensive shot.

This photo reminds me of the desert iguanas photo because of the simplicity of form and crisp white background. The simple things are best.
