This was the first photo that I turned into a postcard. I remember shooting it by the light of the window behind me.

Kilian was just 6 years old when I made that photo of him. He's a teenager already. I think one of the wonderful things about photos is that they are so simple to make, and they gain meaning and value as time passes. One day he can show this photo to his own kids.

From a technical point of view, this was as simple as it gets. A camera, lens and window light. You don't need anything fancy to make a good portrait, just light, some patience, and nice eyes on which to focus.
