I took this photo on my first day in Brazil. I had just landed in an American Airlines jet and Randas Batista, the renowned heart surgeon, picked me up at the airport.

This photo captures a lot about him. It's one of the best photos I took in Brazil. And it proves the rule that I have found to be true in my own work, that the best photos are always the first ones and the last ones that I take on assignment.

Now what should I do with all the middle days? Just not take photos. If I could ditch them all I would save a lot of time and materials.
